Our antique reproduction cigar box fiddles are extremely loud and powerful. They are made from solid Spanish Cedar, with a Western Red Cedar top. IncrediBows draw the best sound from these instruments.

The picture shows the geared tuners, which were invented for guitars in the early 1800s. The instrument can be precision fit (important when you don't have fine tuners) regular violin pegs at no additional cost. The pegs are no more "historically appropriate" than the geared tuners...simply a matter of personal choice.

This instrument is perfect for Civil War reenactors, as it is close to the authentic instruments crafted and played by both Confederate and Union soldiers.It has dimensions similar to a regular fiddle and fits in a modern violin case (included) if desired. A period wood/leather case will be available either as a kit or completed in the near future.A Flesch Center-Mount chinrest can be fit to these instruments. We also supply adaptors that can be used to fit a Playonair Jr. inflatable shoulder rest, which does not detract from the period appearance.
